Steve Perryman knows exactly what it takes to be a successful manager of Tottenham Hotspur, and believes Harry Redknapp was the ‘perfect appointment' for the role.

The Spurs legend played under two great managers in Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw, is our all-time appearance holder and also experienced the other side of the coin as assistant manager to Ossie Ardiles.

In an exclusive questions and answers feature in the July issue of Hotspur magazine, in which Steve answers a selection of questions posed by readers, he believes the future is bright under Harry.

"To me, Harry Redknapp was the perfect appointment," said Perryman, when asked of his thoughts of the current squad and the job Harry has done so far. "He immediately gave the side balance and that's been important as much as anything else.

"Harry has again proved that he can make a team and when he's needed new personnel, he's known how and where to get it. He's brought stability and has been helped by having a Chairman in Daniel Levy who is not afraid to spend the money to back his manager as he's proved again and again.

"As ever at Tottenham, you wonder if success can be achieved against the top clubs because that has not always been the case in the past," Steve continued. "But the current team seems to have nailed that one. I'm certainly optimistic."
