Having beaten Dartford and Staines Town so far this summer the lads face a Blue Square Premier (Football Conference) side likely to include the likes of former Sheffield United midfielder Curtis Woodhouse and Cardiff striker Leo Fortune-West.
“At this stage it’s an ideal test for us,” said development coach Clive, whose FA Premier Reserve League season kicks-off at Derby on August 27.
“Rushden & Diamonds were in the league until only recently, they are rebuilding and will be determined to bounce back as quickly as possible.
“It will see the development squad back together after a few of them had the experience of travelling out to South Africa and we’re very much looking forward to the game. It will be a step up, for sure.”
Teemu Tainio is included in the squad having returned from injury in the final game of our South African tour on Saturday.
Squad: Forecast, Butcher, Hughton, Mills, Riley, Ifil, Daniels, McKenna, Livermore, Barcham, Murphy, Tainio, O'Hara, Obika, Townsend, Maghoma, Barnard.
Clive Allen expects our Spurs XI team's pre-season preparations to step up a notch with tonight's (Tuesday July 31, 7.30pm) trip to Rushden & Diamonds.
