We kick-off at Wycombe this afternoonbefore tomorrow's trip to Oxford's Kassam Stadium.
"We're moving things on from Stevenage," he said. "There will be two different teams starting against Wycombe and Oxford and how long players have on the pitch we'll decide when we monitor their fatigue levels.
"It's always a balancing act and difficult to get it 100 per cent right.
"We feel this pre-season is going very well and we've got to keep our fingers crossed now that the key players don't get injured like they did last season.
"Pre-seasons are all about fitness levels, continuity, bedding in new players, all those things and it's not really result orientated.
"I've gone on record before saying that I've been here as a player where we've had disastrous pre-seasons yet gone on and won the first three games, other seasons we had a great pre-season and started poorly.
"It's difficult to judge result-wise - it's really about the players and what is right for them."
Glenn Hoddle has revealed that he will step things up from Stevenage Borough in our friendlies at Wycombe and Oxford this weekend.
