Clive Allen feels our Spurs XI side is starting to build momentum after the early pre-season shock against Crawley Town.
That heavy defeat against Crawley just over a week ago has been followed by a draw in a private friendly against a full-strength Millwall at the New Den and a convincing 3-1 win against last season's Conference champions and now-League Two side Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.
A commanding first half display was rewarded by goals inside the first 35 minutes from David Hutton, Tomas Pekhart and Andy Barcham and a 3-0 lead. The second half was a scrappier affair with substitutions taking their toll on the game and the home side's efforts rewarded with a consolation goal.
"As we said at the time after Crawley, you can use those bad results to good effect and we've since had a very good response against two teams from the Football League in Millwall and now Aldershot," reflected development coach Clive.
"The lads have bounced back in the right way and that's what we were looking for.
"We're making progress on a number of levels in terms of fitness and the nature in which we're playing the games - that is improving all the time and that's what we're looking for at this stage of pre-season."
Clive was delighted with the start at the Recreation Ground. "The way we took the initiative, the way we played and passed the ball and the chances we created was all of a high quality and that's exactly what we're striving for.
"We didn't give them any chance to get a foothold into the game, we controlled it and we were also very positive in the way we played."
