Steffen's World Cup Diary: Group D

Posted on 26 May 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

A European Championship winner with Germany, Steffen Freund has agreed to stretch his diary into the World Cup - starting with a run down of the groups.

You have to say Portugal to win Group D.

They are a great team and had a fantastic Euro 2000 and they have a lot of experience now with the likes of Figo and Rui Costa around.

I think they can go on to make the semi-finals this time around but they might have to beat Spain along the way to do that.

The rest of the group is very, very close. Poland won their qualifying group from Ukraine and Norway, USA have been in good form and South Korea have played well in friendlies.

Maybe home advantage could tell for South Korea and they could make it through behind Portugal but all three are at about the same level.
