Steffen's World Cup Diary: Group A

Posted on 23 May 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

A European Championship winner and World Cup squad member with Germany, Steffen Freund has agreed to stretch his diary into the World Cup - starting with a run down of the groups.

You can't look any further than France in Group A.

France and Argentina are the main favourites for the World Cup and both countries have been there before.

Of course, France are the holders and they have played well together for the last four years.

Funnily enough, I think the defeat they had against Belgium recently will do them good in the long run.

They know how to step it up when it matters and they have match winners.

It is a great moment for Senegal to reach the finals but I think second place has to be between Uruguay and Denmark.

I'm not too sure about Uruguay but I know that Denmark always play together as a team and have the experience. I believe they can go into the next round, second in this group behind France.
