The Norwegian put on another good show in attack and caused the normally formidable Liverpool rearguard one or two shakey moments as well as doing his bit tracking back.
"I think we've been playing well in the last few games now and I thought we worked hard as a team against Liverpool," said Steffen.
"We defended well, created a few chances and scored a goal, the winning goal. So I think it was a good performance."
A satisfying factor for the boys was maintaining the performance level for a full 90 minutes after conceding a few late goals in recent games.
"It was a 90 minute one, we had to stick it out because obviously Liverpool had to win to stay in the title race so we had to follow up on them for the full game and I think we did well.
"I think we've had a few good performances, but definitely the second half was up there with the two or three best performances.
"It was great. We worked very hard and played the ball around. We made a few chances, as I said, got the goal and could have had another couple. They could have had a couple if they were lucky so it was a good result for us."
While delighted to have secured a result against a team near the top with everything to play for, Steffen says points are needed from all games with Leicester next in line.
"We don't like to lose games either. So we go out to win every game and can't really do much about who we're playing. We've got Leicester in a couple of weeks and we're going there to win as well.
"This is a good kind of starter for next season."
Steffen Iversen believes the win against Liverpool was a continuation of recent improved performances.
