Steffen's short cut

Posted on 8 March 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steffen Freund has mapped out a two-game route into Europe for next season — play Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

Steffen is basing short-cut to the UEFA Cup on the fact that Arsenal are expected to finish in the top three, so qualifying for the final would instantly offer a ticket to ride.

"We are two games away from the final and, for instance, if we play Arsenal in that final then we will be guaranteed going to Europe again, as long as Arsenal finish in the top three, whether we win or lose," said Steffen in his latest column.

"I look forward to Sunday and we have to concentrate to get into the semi-finals again. We were there two years ago and unlucky to lose to Newcastle.

Steffen insists that the team must make their mark on the game right from the whistle and impose themselves on West Ham physically and psychologically.

"For me the key is a good start - straight on the pitch and let them know that we are not going to lose.

"I think we have to do that with all the passion and all the power we have and make sure we don't go 2-0 down again! It is important to keep a clean sheet and start well.
