Steffen's Diary

Posted on 21 August 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steffen is back at Spurs Lodge from continuing his rehab in Germany and wasted no time in updating his diary

I'M FINALLY BACK from Germany and now I'm raring to go.

I was in Germany for another two-and-a-half weeks. I had 10 training sessions with a Second Division team to try everything before starting here.

That is why I was in Germany again, to have the last blood tests, fitness tests, everything with the doctor to be ready to start full training.

I feel good now. You have to be ready and I am now. I have to say thank-you that the club let me try everything in Germany and that they trust me. Now I want to give something back.

All I need is match practice now. I am on the training pitch every day to keep my fitness, my stamina and talk to the players and stay in touch with first team. Even if I'm not playing now everyone knows I will be in the background driving them on.

The rest will come with games and the manager will tell me when he thinks I am ready to go out again. He will know.

It is seven months since the injury at Chelsea. I have tried different things than when I injured my other cruiciate six years ago.

I think seven months is a good time, especially considering this is my second cruciate! I'm raring to go but it is important to calm down, step back and not come back too fast because that is when you can have problems again.

People ask how much I've missed the game. You miss it especially when the season starts and especially when you are at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the Worthington Cup Final starts.

Those are the moments when you could almost cry but it is all part of the game and instead you have to look forward.

I'm looking forward to the first game back at White Hart Lane and to say hello again to the supporters. That will be a wonderful moment. I know the supporters have stayed behind me and, even if it is just for a minute, I know that I'm looking forward to that day.
