Steffen's back on song

Posted on 19 March 2001 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Believe it or not, Steffen Iversen’s goal against Coventry City was his first in the Premiership this term.
Top scorer for the previous two seasons, the Norwegian hitman sublimely flicked home Stephen Clemence’s cross for a vital opening goal, not least with the events of the previous 24 hours, against Gordon Strachan’s men.
Playing at right wing-back in his first Premiership start since September 30, he then played a key role in the second when his header was palmed away by Chris Kirkland only for Les Ferdinand to nod the rebound home.
It has been a tough season so far for the 24-year-old who was out from October until February after undergoing surgery twice on a troubled knee.
Talking briefly before being whisked away for man-of-the-match duties, Steffen was clearly delighted to be back where he belongs — on target.
Steffen beamed: “It’s always great to be on the scoresheet, especially as it’s only the second game I’ve played since coming back into the squad.
“It’s good to be back out there and the main thing is that it’s good to be playing again without any problems with the knee.
“I thought we played very well. Defensively we looked strong and going forward as well, we could have scored more goals than we actually did. It was a comfortable win.”
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
