The former treble-winning team-mates at Manchester United came face-to-face in our friendly against Lazio on Sunday.
Teddy can claim a win on points against the giant defender after we stormed into a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Lazio made it 2-1 before the break and, with Stam substituted at half-time, eventually took a draw back home to Rome.
Skipper Teddy joked beforehand that he wouldn't be going into many physical confrontations with the Dutch international and the feeling of respect is clearly mutual between the pair.
Stam exclusively told the Official Spurs Website afterwards: "Everyone knows Teddy and he is still a quality player.
"He's very strong on the ball, strong in the air and I think every defender has to be 100 per cent concentrated to play against him otherwise he will be a real handful.
"When you look at his movement and how he controls the ball and what he is doing for Spurs, he's proved again he is still a quality striker.
"I played against him this time, he looks very good and I'm convinced he can still score a lot of goals."
Stam revealed that he watched our friendly against Celtic last week and has been impressed with what he has seen.
He added: "I think Spurs have a good team. In the first half, especially the first 30 minutes, they played very well.
"I saw them play Celtic on television and they had some good spells then as well. Hopefully they can do it in the Premier League as well."
Jaap Stam is convinced Teddy Sheringham still has plenty to offer Spurs and England.
