Our Under-18s travel to Sunderland this Wednesday, May 13, in the semi-final of the Premier Academy League play-offs.

The match is at the Stadium of Light and will kick-off at 7pm.

The lads completed their league campaign with a 2-0 win at Birmingham City on Saturday having clinched the PAL Group B title by beating Watford at the Lane last week.

Sunderland won Group D of the PAL by a staggering 20 points from Newcastle United and completed their season with a 2-1 win against FA Youth Cup finalists Liverpool on Saturday.

The PAL play-offs are between the four PAL divisional winners with Arsenal, Manchester City and Sunderland also competing - Arsenal won their semi-final against City 2-1 on Friday so await the winners of our semi-final in the national final, date TBA.

Meanwhile, coach Alex Inglethorpe was delighted with Saturday's success at Birmingham.

The team included five debutants and another three players making their first starts of the season.

"It was fantastic - five of the players hadn't played at Under-18 level before and only three had featured in over five games for us this season," he said. "They've all set a benchmark now for next season."
