The Spurs XI got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory over Blue Square South side St Albans City at Clarence Park.
Clive Allen's side ran out winners thanks to first half goals from David Hutton and Alex Olsen.
The home side looked to assert their physical presence early on, but we eased the pressure with an opening goal on six minutes.
Kyle Fraser-Allen's long ball forward was misjudged by keeper Paul Bastock, and Hutton took advantage with a cheeky chip from the edge of the box.
Although Simon Martin had a chance for City moments later, we were in the ascendancy and made it 2-0 on 24 minutes.
Hutton broke through the middle and laid it left to Danny Hutchins, whose pinpoint cross was well finished by Olsen at the back post.
Fraser-Allen and Kevin-Prince Boateng had chances to make it three before the home side got themselves back in the game just before half-time.
Hassan Sulaiman got past Yuri Berchiche down the right-hand side and put in a good cross to the back post where Simon Martin bundled home.
After a host of half-time substitutions, Spurs picked up again after the break with our best chances falling to Andy Barcham, Saulo Asajile and Hutton.
But City could so easily have helped themselves to a well-earned draw when Rod Hicks headed against Lee Butcher's crossbar from six yards 15 minutes from time.
