Robbie Keane has underlined the importance of the squad game this season.
Peter Crouch won the admiration of Harry Redknapp and the players with his reaction after being left out of the starting line-up for Saturday's win against Burnley despite bagging a hat-trick at Preston three days earlier.
Skipper Robbie, who scored four in the 5-0 win against the Clarets, insists it's a situation that every player could face this season.
"It would be quite easy for players to sit down, mope and put their head down when they are left out," he said.
"Crouchy must have been disappointed but he didn't show it. The way he was in the dressing room wishing all the lads well was fanatstic to see.
"As players, we all have to do that as well. The reality is that there will be games where you are left out, no question, and when you are left out, we still have to help each other if we want to progress this season.
"As a squad, we have to see the bigger picture. Everyone who has been on the bench has played a massive part so far this season and that will only help us in the long run."
