The defender has missed our last three matches after picking up a knee injury at Fulham on December 4.
“Vlad has a chance,” said Tim, who admitted the squad was ‘quite light in defensive areas’ with Jan Vertonghen (ankle) out and skipper Michael Dawson suspended.
Paulinho is also suspended after his red card against Liverpool and Sandro is not expected to return after limping off after 30 minutes against the Reds on Sunday.
“It’s up to the players to step up to the mark and perform well for the club and for themselves,” added Tim, who was pleased with his first training session with the squad on Tuesday.
“The lads have been good,” he said. “Obviously when you lose your manager it’s a change and they have to listen to a different voice now, but I’m hoping to get a few messages across in a short space of time so we can get a positive result against West Ham.”
