We return to Premier League action on home soil on the back of a fine first week of the campaign.
It all started with an opening day win at Crystal Palace and continued with a resounding 5-0 victory against Dinamo Tbilisi in the Europa League play-off, first leg at the Dinamo Stadium.
It was the perfect away performance in Europe as goals from Roberto Soldado (2), Andros Townsend, Paulinho and Danny Rose put us in control of the tie with the second leg to follow on Thursday, August 29.
With that victory in the bag, it’s back to domestic duty and a clash against a team no doubt looking to bounce back from their 4-1 loss against United on week one.
The first step of that recovery came with a 5-1 win against Petrolul Ploiesti in the Europa League on Thursday night.
“They had chance to turn it around in Europe, I expect them to be fully motivated and expect a tough encounter, because that’s exactly how it was last season,” said Andre.
"We had a couple of chances but it was a very hard match for us and we expect the same kind of game.
“It will be difficult but we look forward to it.”
Meanwhile, Andre explained why Younes Kaboul was handed the captain's armband in Tbilisi.
"We made that decision because it was almost one year since he last started, Newcastle away," he said. "Younes has been through a difficult year and I spoke to Michael (Dawson) and I think it was a good reward for what he has been through to lead the team out."
