A fortnight on from our hard-fought 2-0 victory in Tiraspol, Moldovan champions FC Sheriff travel to the Lane for an 8.05pm kick-off in Matchday Four.
In form and top of the league again domestically, Sheriff impressed that night but Andre is determined to reach the last 32 with a victory on home soil.
“We had the idea of trying to achieve qualification in these two games against FC Sheriff, it’s an opportunity for us to finish the job and I think we have to take it,” he said.
“The players are very motivated to achieve qualification as soon as possible as well.
"We look good as a team right now and hopefully that confidence will be turned into a result.”
Sheriff caused us a few problems in Tiraspol but we kept another clean sheet – our fifth in a row this European campaign. A sixth tonight will match our best in European competition, achieved on our way to winning the UEFA Cup in 1972.
“Sheriff had some great moments, particularly on the counter,” said Andre of that 2-0 win in Matchday Three. “We recognise they had their chances but we had our chances too, especially in the first half. We played a good game.
“I had a brief conversation with their coach, he’s very ambitious and they are in a position in their league that’s very comfortable for them, so I would expect them to have a go at us.”
