Spurs 1-2 Juventus (agg 3-4) - reaction from Wembley

Wed 07 March 2018, 23:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Reaction from Wembley after two goals in three minutes in the second half saw Juve turn the tide in our Champions League Round of 16 tie after we'd led 1-0 and 3-2 on aggregate at half-time. We had 23 efforts but couldn't find that crucial second goal as we bowed out 4-3 on aggregate.

Mauricio Pochettino
"We are so disappointed, but that's football. We need to learn. All we can do is keep going and be ready for the next game. I'm proud because our performance was good in both games and I think we deserved more than Juventus but we have to accept that the better team doesn't always win.

"There were so many positives but the most important thing was negative and that's the result."

Heung-Min Son
"From the start we played well, we created a lot of chances, we went 1-0 up - it was the perfect start. The performance was good but the two goals make the result different and that's the main thing. I'm very proud of the team, proud of the fans, proud of the performance - it's just one main thing, the result isn't perfect. It's sad and it hurts a lot, but we can be proud."

Hugo Lloris

"Sometimes football is cruel but it’s part of the game. Today we can keep our heads up because I think we did some positive things in the game. Unfortunately we lost it in two situations that we should have dealt better with but in front of us was one of the biggest teams in Europe, they have a lot of experience and they showed their mentality today because even at 1-0 down they didn’t give up and kept faith in themselves. We’re going to learn about this big disappointment. We are still a young team. Juventus are used to winning a lot, they’re used to playing a lot in the Champions League and they have the experience of this stage of the competition. For us it was our first time with this team but we’re going to keep working because we have a lot of quality, we have a very talented team, we’ll show it again but unfortunately it wasn’t enough today."
