Luke Young makes his first return to White Hart Lane on Monday night following his £4 million move across the capital last summer.

Young left Tottenham frustrated at his lack of opportunities at right-back and jumped at the chance of regular first-team action with Charlton.

He was influential in the Addicks' 3-1 win over Spurs at the Valley in December with a whole-hearted display and he would dearly love to complete the 'double' over the club where he had spent his first four years as a professional.

Coincidentally Young's departure has allowed Welsh starlet Simon Davies to become a more regular fixture in the Spurs line-up and the former Peterborough man has not disappointed.

Arguably the quickest of their offensive players, Davies's 103 dribbles and runs attempted is the most by a Tottenham man this campaign and illustrates how much he carries the game to the opposition with his forays towards their goal.

Many supporters were disappointed at him not making the starting line-up for the recent Worthington Cup Final and felt he could have played the wingback role instead of Mauricio Taricco.

But after tonight's game the former Ipswich full-back is set to serve a long suspension for two red cards in his last two starts and Glenn Hoddle will have no option but to play Davies.

His form has dipped a little of late but then the entire Spurs team has suffered in recent weeks. Yet with just nine games left to play, Davies will want to finish the season on a high.

The young Welshman has netted seven goals for Spurs this season - four of them in the Premiership - and his 33% goals-to-shots ratio is another club high. SurreySports are offering 16/1 on him opening the scoring on Monday night.

Young's game has never been about scoring goals, indeed he has never scored a goal in his career to date - although he did hit the crossbar on his Spurs debut at West Ham almost three and a half years ago.

He may face a battle on his hands to retain his place in the team with Bulgarian international Radostin Kishishev slowly returning to full fitness after a long-term injury. But Charlton supporters cannot question Young's commitment considering that his tally of 56 successful challenges has only been bettered by midfielder Scott Parker.

And don't be surprised if Young is celebrating just before 10 o'clock on Monday night, as the Addicks clinch their first win at White Hart Lane in over 14 years - a possibility available at 10/3 with SurreySports.
