Mousa Dembele gave us the lead after just three minutes with his second goal in as many games, before Dele Alli made it 2-0 in first half stoppage time - his first goal at White Hart Lane and second of the season so far.

Jordan Ayew's deflected shot crept into the net 11 minutes from time to bring Villa back into the game and make for an all-action ending, but the points were made safe when Harry Kane curled into the top corner three minutes into time added on.

Spurs (4-2-3-1): Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose (Davies 82), Dier, Alli (Onomah 89), Lamela, Eriksen, Dembele (Mason 69), Kane. Substitutes (not used): Vorm, Trippier, Fazio, Townsend.
