Internationals - who's playing where...

International football is back on the agenda this week – and all eyes are on Christian Eriksen’s Denmark as they battle it out with rivals Sweden for a place at Euro 2016.

The two nations will meet in a two-legged qualifying play-off with the winners heading to the tournament finals next year.

The first game takes place in Stockholm on Saturday, November 14, with the return in Copenhagen on Tuesday, November 17.

Of course, next summer’s tournament takes place in France – and Les Bleus, with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in their side, continue their warm-up campaign with friendlies at home to Germany on Friday, November 13, and away to England on Tuesday, November 17.

The latter game takes place at Wembley Stadium against a Three Lions squad that includes Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Eric Dier, the latter having been called into the senior ranks for the first time. Before facing France, England will test themselves in an away friendly in Spain on Friday, November 13.

Belgium, who name Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen among their number, are also in friendly action, hosting Italy on Friday, November 13, and Spain on Tuesday, November 17.

Defenders Ben Davies and Kevin Wimmer also have friendly matches to play with their respective nations, Ben’s Wales hosting the Netherlands on Friday, November 13, and Kevin’s Austria playing at home to Switzerland on Tuesday, November 17, following a training camp in Spain.

Outside of Europe, a number of players face qualifying matches for the 2018 FIFA World Cup over the next few days.

Nabil Bentaleb has been named in the Algeria squad for away and home matches against Tanzania on Saturday, November 14, and Tuesday, November 17, while Clinton Njie and Cameroon face Niger away on Friday, November 13, and at home on Tuesday, November 17.

South Korea, who name Heung-Min Son in their squad, host Myanmar on Thursday, November 12, before travelling to Laos on Tuesday, November 17, while Erik Lamela’s Argentina host Brazil in the early hours of Friday, November 13, and then visit Colombia on Tuesday, November 17. In addition, on-loan DeAndre Yedlin is in the US squad for a home match against St Vincent & the Grenadines on Friday, November 13, and an away trip to Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday, November 17.


We’ve a number of players representing England’s youth sides over the next couple of weeks.

Midfielder Harry Winks has joined up with England Under-20s for back-to-back friendlies in France today (Wednesday, November 11) and on Saturday, November 14, while right-back Kyle Walker-Peters and midfielder Josh Onomah are with England Under-19s for friendlies away to the Netherlands (Thursday, November 12) and at home to Japan (Sunday, November 15).


Also, England Under-17s include Academy players Keanan Bennetts, Jaden Brown, Samuel Shashoua and Japhet Tanganga in their squad for two home friendlies against Germany on Wednesday, November 18, and Friday, November 20.

Elsewhere, Milos Veljkovic is with Serbia Under-21s for European qualifiers at home to Italy (Friday, November 13) and away to Slovenia (Tuesday, November 17), Kenny McEvoy and Republic of Ireland Under-21s face a home European qualifier against Norway on the latter date, while Cameron Carter-Vickers has joined up with the US Under-23 side for consecutive friendlies against Brazil today (Wednesday, November 11) and on Sunday, November 15.

Charlie Owens and Chris Paul, meanwhile, have been named in the Northern Ireland Under-19s squad for away European qualifiers against Norway (today, Wednesday, November 11), Russia (Friday, November 13) and Slovakia (Monday, November 16).
