Spurs pair get England call

Posted on 28 March 2004  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Jermain Defoe and Anthony Gardner have been called up by England for next week's friendly international against Sweden.

It is a first call for 21-year-old Jermain, while Anthony will be hoping for better luck this time around after injury prevented him making his England debut against Denmark back in November.

Meanwhile, Ledley King was not in contention for the trip. The versatile central defender, who scored on his first England start against Portugal last time out, picked up a hamstring injury in the defeat to Southampton at St Mary's.
