As a new WSL 2 team, Karen Hills’ side will be entering the competition for the first time.
Teams will play each other once in the group stage. If the scores are level after 90 minutes of a group stage fixture, a penalty shootout will take place with points distributed as follows…
• Teams will receive 3 points for winning a group game in 90 minutes.
• Teams will receive 2 points if a group game is tied after 90 minutes and they win the penalty shootout.
• Teams will receive 1 point if a group game is tied after 90 minutes and they lose the penalty shootout.
The top two teams in each group progress to the quarter-finals.
For the first time in women’s football, this season’s FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup will see the introduction of a fourth substitute that can be utilised during extra time of the knockout games if the match progresses beyond 90 minutes.
