Aussie rules - Gallas

Posted on 23 July 2016  - 02:45

William Gallas drew the curtains on his playing career in Australia - and loved every minute.

Capped 84 times by France and a World Cup finalist in 2006, William played 72 times for us between 2010-2013 and was outstanding in our Champions League campaign of 2010-11.

It’s perhaps less known that the defender jetted Down Under for the final season of his playing career with Perth Glory in the A League.

As we return to Oz for the second time in as many years – this time for week-long tour of Melbourne, including high-profile matches against Juventus and Atletico Madrid in the International Champions League at the iconic MCG - William has nothing but the highest praise for the country.

"It’s a great country, I spent a year there and it’s something else,” said William.

"Obviously it's completely different to Europe and they are trying to improve the football with the A League.

"I’m sure all the players will love it, especially in Melbourne. It’s a great city. Melbourne has everything, it’s a sporting city."
