The team are spending five days conditioning themselves for the pre-season programme and putting in the base fitness for the forthcoming campaign, with fitness coach Kunle Odetoyinbo designing the drills at the resort's superb football centre.
Players not on the trip are ones that were - or still are - involved on international duty. Robbie Keane, Stephen Carr, Gary Doherty, Steffen Iversen and Kasey Keller will return to training next week.
New signing Helder Postiga is in the party and the squad also features six young prospects from Colin Calderwood's reserve team group.
Jonathan Blondel, Stephen Kelly, Johnnie Jackson, Rohan Ricketts, Dean Marney, Jamie Slabber and Robert Burch will all be seeking to impress Glenn Hoddle and put down their marker for inclusion in the pre-season games.
Day one in La Manga began with a 8am start at the football facility and a two-hour session without a football in sight. This afternoon the players are down for a double-header - swim and gym, followed by a further session back on the pitches this evening.
We will bring you exclusive pictures and interviews from La Manga over the coming days.
The first team squad arrived in the La Manga resort on Thursday and were quickly in the their collective stride early on Friday morning.
