The squad has made the switch from the West to East coast of America as we now prepare for the Barclays New York Challenge.

Tuesday was a travelling day.

It was an early start from our base in San Jose to make the 45-minute coach journey to San Francisco and catch the 2pm flight to JFK Airport, New York.

The flight took five hours and with the change in time difference - we're now five hours behind the UK - we actually landed at 10pm local time.

It was immediately noticeable that it's a different heat in New York to the California sunshine we've been used to for best part of a week.

It's certainly just as hot but this is a more intense, muggy heat - and the lads were really sweating it out in their first session on Wednesday morning.

We trained at the New York Jets NFL team's excellent facility in Florham Park, New Jersey.

With our first match in the Barclays New York Challenge against New York Red Bulls tomorrow (Thursday, July 22), this was a football-based session concentrating on possession and then team shape.

After training, Harry Redknapp, Tom Huddlestone and Ossie Ardiles dashed off to a press conference for the Barclays New York Challenge at the Red Bull Arena, Harrison, New Jersey.

All four clubs were represented with the top table including Red Bulls' latest signing - a certain Thierry Henry - plus Roberto Mancini and Gareth Barry from City.
