Steffan has travelled over 670,000 miles watching his beloved Spurs since moving to California in 1986 and has flown over to the UK this week to receive his Award.
He has spent the last 19 years flying back to the UK for at least six Spurs games per season, a round trip of over 35,000 air miles a year. This season alone Steffan has been to nine Tottenham games including away fixtures at Newcastle, West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City.
Originally from Surbiton, South London, 38-year-old Steffan was a Spurs season ticket holder in the 1980’s before moving to San Francisco to pursue his career as a rock journalist and now writes for US heavy metal legends Metallica who are close friends of his.
His son Zak is a junior Spurs member and left hospital after his birth in a Tottenham Hotspur baby grow!
Steffan’s favourite player this season has been Ledley King because of his 'solid, no nonsense defensive displays' and it was Ledley who presented Steffan with his Award at Spurs Lodge.
Steffan said: "I’ve been a Spurs fan all my life, when I moved to San Francisco I was determined to continue making trips back to the UK to watch them live.
"It’s fantastic that I’ve been given the Barclays Fan of the Month Award. The least I could do was fly over to receive the award in person — and catch Charlton versus Spurs on Wednesday night too!"
Nic Gault, Barclays Sponsorship Director, said: "Steffan has travelled a phenomenal amount of air miles to watch his beloved Spurs. We’re delighted to officially recognise his dedication with the Barclays Fan of the Month Award."
The Barclays Fan of the Month Award runs alongside the monthly Barclays Player and Manager Awards. Entries are selected via BBC Radio Five 606.
San Francisco-based Spurs supporter Steffan Chirazi has won the prestigious Barclays Fan of the Month Award for February.
