The Club have signed up as a supporter of 1GOAL, the global education-based initiative aimed at raising awareness of the 72 million children around the world that are currently not receiving any schooling or formal education.

1GOAL officially launches on April 20 and will run until the World Cup final on July 10.

The campaign is about raising awareness, not funds, and aims to secure 30 million signatures over the coming months to ensure world leaders allocate funding that will see every child in the world receive a primary education by 2015.

The project, which has received high profile backing from FIFA, aims to use the platform of the World Cup to target football fans around the world, and has already secured a number of famous supporters from football and beyond including Fabio Capello and Zinedine Zidane as well as rapper 50 Cent and actress Jessica Alba.

The Club and players are backing the campaign and we'd like to invite fans to support the campaign via the website www.join1goal.org - CLICK HERE...

Defender Benoit Assou Ekotto said: "Every child has the right to an education and it's important that children all over the world are given an equal opportunity. I hope the Club's support for the campaign helps others sign up to 1GOAL so we can help make a difference to the lives of children who need it most."
