Spurs agree keeper fee

Posted on 10 July 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The club confirms that a bid for goalkeeper Alan Kelly has been accepted by Blackburn Rovers and the Republic of Ireland international has been given permission to speak with Spurs.

Following the sale of Ian Walker to Leicester City, Glenn needs to add another keeper to the squad as back-up to Neil Sullivan and the club expects to meet with Kelly over the next few for talks.

Kelly started last season as first-choice keeper at Ewood Park, but lost his place to John Filan. The arrival of Brad Friedel in November limited his first team opportunities further.

Kelly was signed by former Rovers manager Brian Kidd in August 1999 following a spell at Sheffield United.
