Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to the players after our 6-0 win against South China FC in the Barclays Asia Trophy on Saturday.

The team impressed on a tricky playing surface to complete the tournament in fine style in front of our fantastic fans in Hong Kong.

Jermain Defoe led the way with a hat-trick, Clint Dempsey finished from Jermain’s cross and Andros Townsend curled home a free-kick for the sixth. Tse Sean Ka Keung turned Danny Rose’s cross into his own net to open the scoring.

“It was a really good performance. I'm really happy,” said Andre.

“The football we played was magnificent. Everyone was committed to come back from a bad result against Sunderland.

“To finish off (the tournament) in this way is a big compliment to the group and the commitment they have to the future at Spurs.

“Our supporters have been excellent and I’m glad we repaid them in some way.

“Now we go back to London, another fresh start and continue to prepare for the first game of the season.”

We got to Palace on the first weekend of the Premier League on Sunday, August 18.

Next up in pre-season is an intriguing friendly against French side AS Monaco next Saturday, August 3.
