Since the partnership between our Academies will enable our coaches to share methodology and tactics with their counterparts at Supersport, Gavin is looking to the future with excitement after what he saw here.
He said: “I think the links between our youth academies will work extremely well. I’ve had a good look at the setup at Spurs and I’m highly impressed with the work that’s put in.
“But I think the link up can work both ways because Supersport have some excellent talent which just needs to be exposed to the sort of professionalism you have at Spurs.
“That’s why we need top-level coaches to pass on their knowledge, and then the South African game can go from strength to strength because we’ve got some fantastic players.”
He continued: “I’ve been to many clubs and academies around England before, and one thing that always amazes me is the professionalism and the levels of intensity in training.
“With a World Cup coming up in South Africa in 2010, a setup like you have at Spurs is exactly the sort of thing we need.”
We were last week delighted to welcome the Head Coach of Supersport United, Gavin Hunt, to spend a few days at Spurs Lodge as part of our Academy partnership with the South African club.Gavin observed training sessions and watched us take on Reading in the FA Cup Third Round replay and feels he learned a lot from how an English club works to take back to his native country.
