This is the time when we can’t waste chances, everyone expects a good finish this season, at least top 8 and Sergei and Teddy are the men to do it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Dr Gam: The Worthington Cup is very important in the eyes of Spurs fans as is any cup for that matter! Spurs should be aiming to win as much silver as possible! To do this we do need a good defender that can head the ball as Sol did when he was with us. Dean Richards is the best replacement we can hope for. Glenn Hoddle is doing the right thing in pursuing him. Hoddle should also buy another striker that can create like ENRICO CHIESA as Fiorentina need money and he will come at a cut price.
Steve Coupland: Regarding the Worthington cup, I feel it should be retained and positively supported. I am getting tired of the media supported criticism of this competition, which is largely lead by the so called big clubs. The over crowded fixture list is a red herring. These big clubs are really not concerned about the number of games but who they play. The champions league is living evidence of clubs manipulating competitions for the benefit of their bank balances rather then the credibility of the competition. So let’s see the Worthington Cup and, more important, lets make sure we win it!! Sure its not as prestigious as the FA cup but I still want to see us seriously compete for it. Cardiff in February?? Lets hope so.
David Hughes: I feel that The Worthington Cup is an important cup for spurs as it is a way into European football. If Spurs get into Europe I feel that it will be a good experience for the younger players and our confidence and football will improve in the league. Come on Spurs!
Alastair Smith: Manchester Utd give no credit to the competition and so every one else follows, I believe that it IS still an important trophy and certainly very rewarding.
Jay Vickers: The Worthington Cup is a cup. At the end of the day it provides an entry into Europe and the teams who just cast it aside miss out on a chance. When we won the cup under Graham, it was a tremendous achievement for the club, because every piece of silverware is a credit to the club. UP THE SPURS!
Daniel Holladay: The Worthington Cup may offer us European football again, and for this reason it is worth winning.
Once in Europe it gives our players vital experience, as well as helping to lure big name players to the Lane. Spurs are in the middle of rebuilding, and all the signs are looking good, and winning the Worthington cup and playing in Europe will put us well on the way to success.
It is also an excellent opportunity to give fringe players a game, soon a lot of our younger players will be pushing for first team action, and with the quality that has already come through Glenn has the opportunity to become a legend as a manager as well as a player.
Richard O’Donoghue: Look we need to get in to Europe anyway we can and if it is worthy enough for Liverpool to win than it is worthy enough for Tottenham. As a season ticket holder I would be delighted to be able to go the millennium Stadium in Cardiff and see us collect a trophy.
Glenn Bellis: As long as this competition offers European qualification we should give the Cup every respect, playing our full strength team in every match. Please stop playing the 'spurs mix' before games it is embarrassing!!!!!!
Paul Bradford:First of all I want to say to our new American Goalkeeper that my thoughts are with him and all his fellow countrymen and women during this distressing time. I was there to watch him make his debut against Torquay and I was impressed by the way he handled it. On to the topic and I believe the cup is important to us as it is a way into Europe and also brings extra revenue into the club.
