Sound Offs: Season so far

Posted on 14 January 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Andy Redhead: Spurs have had a brilliant start to the season, and its a mark of how far we've come that I am dissapointed we are not higher in the league. Within the Spurs team all players have done well, but Anderton stands out for me. I must also say that Freund is improving, and never gives less than 100%. Hoddle has done well with all the players who have come in, and when Carr etc are back from the treatment room we could push the top three all the way. Outside of the spurs camp no team has really impressed in the premiership, though Bobby Robson has Newcastle playing some nice football. I think Phillips has done well at Sunderland, though the goals have dried up the all round game is better. Zamora down at Brighton is proving a consistent player and Jenas at Forest looks good. As for pure quality Owen is supurb, let's hope he stays fit for England, Veron is class and Robert is an exciting player to watch.

Johan van Oosten: As a Dutchman I really love the playing style of Spurs. The Dutch always love this English football style, but it is a fact that a playing style like can cause serious problems, because many times the defence is a bit lacking. Let's hope Spurs keep that in mind when playing in Europe next season!

Karl Gwilliam: You have to say that man u are still the team that every one has to catch they have such a desire to win that they don't stop until the final whistle goes. The one player who has impressed me is Ruud van the man but the other is Ledley King who I feel is looking like becoming one of the best defenders in the Premiership. I still feel we have a long way to go as was proved over Christmas, we always seem to let ourselfes down when we need to do the business. As a team we have done a great job and I think we will stay where we are in the league and get into Europe but we still have too many players who go missing in big matches like Ziege and Anderton, but if we keep on improving the way we are it won't be long before the Glory Days Are Back.

Andrew Ewen: I think that Spurs have one of the best up and coming teams in the Premiership. Just look at the players that we have got, Ledley King, Simon Davies and Anthony Gardner are just three of the young talent that we have at the club. Pair that with the experienced that players like Teddy Sheringham, Sir Les Ferdinand and Gus Poyet bring to the squad and we have the perfect balance of experience and the youth that every succsesful club has ( look at Man Utd). Europe is a definate possability this season and hopefully a trophy added to that as a bonus.

Steven Clift: This season Craig Bellamy has impressed me the most. He has proved an incredible signing for Bobby Robson. Dean Richards has been our signing of the season, though Sheringham and Poyet shouldn't be ignored. Ruud Van Nistelrooy has proved he is the best in the world at the moment, for £18.5million!

Steffi Baharie: The Team that has caught my eye the most this season is Newcastle, because they have been quite consistent and won a lot more games than I thought they would. I think Spurs compare quite favourably to Newcastle, but I think we need to be more consistent. There have been a few players that I think have done well this season..... Trevor Sinclair, Ledley King and van Nistelrooy.

Adam Moore: Steffan Freund has shown he is a good midfeild plyer and seems to have fitted into Glenn Hoddle's plans but now Sherwood is back we have another great player fighting for a place in the first team. Chris perry has failed to impress this season he seems to make rash takles and plays bad balls. With up and coming stars like Gardner, Thelwell and King
his place can't be secure for long.
