Sound Offs - Next captain (2)

Posted on 25 July 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Mr Rackny: Next captain should be Ziege because of his experience and the fact that it will make him proud as he didn't know if he would play again after his injury. Also have Carr and Redknapp involved.

Chris Garrett: I think the next captain should be Poyet if he plays first team next season - he's in the centre of everything and works hard. This could then rub off onto other players and make them work.

Michael: I think Dean Richards should be captain because hes got experience and also controls the defence well. He can also get the crowd behind the team. COME ON YOU SPURS!

Matt Roberts: Dean Richards..... by far our best player, a natural leader!!

Sam Miller: Simon Davies should be the next Spurs captain. You need to be agressive and have stamina, and that's what Simon has.

Andrea Parker: Gus Poyet without a doubt, he has the passion, command and respect that is needed in a captain.

Stuart Slade: Team captain has to be Dean Richards - a quality player leading by example (re Mabbutt). Those asking for Poyet (very often anonymous in games unless we're playing the big sides) to be given the armband would probably be asking for Freund if he was still around.

Johan Vanbesien: Darren Anderton should be our next captain. He's Spurs through and through; the best passer on the ball we have and a loyal servant of the Club!!!

Liam Breen: Stevie Carr should be captain - he's got a hint of roy keane to him and he'll be able to control things. And Zamora will be best buy of the season, well done.

Mickey Marshall: I honestly believe the most important aspect of a captain is that they must be a first teamer! And dedicated to the club too. I honestly believe that the skipper should be someone who will be around for seasons to come, so that the team at least knows it has some stability. Since there are only a few players who are capable of this I'd suggest one out of Davies or Carr, partly because some other candidates are getting on have an injury prone reputation. However, I think someone with a lot of experience, for example Redknapp or Daz would make a very very good vice-captain as they can boss the game from the middle of the park. It's looking good for us this year lads, we have great talent and youth on our side, what with Ethers becoming better all the time, and now Zamora and Postiga as goalscoring superbuys (but a new Left Back couldn't hurt either). I hope this'll be the season of greatness.
