Pat Holland believes our Academy group can build on Saturday's first win of the season.
The Under-18s came from behind twice to topple Ipswich Town with late goals from Simon Dawkins and Andy Barcham securing a 3-2 win. Jack Maghoma also netted.
It was the first win in five in the FA Premier Academy League and relief for coach Pat after a disappointing performance at Millwall last week.
"They have responded well to last week but they are that type of group," said Pat at Spurs Lodge. "We'll have to be a little patient. We finished up with six first years on the pitch on Saturday so the percentage is with the youngsters rather than the senior lads at the moment.
"The kids care and want to do well. We look at personal performance and that's the most important thing, that you are progressing as an individual, but deep down, I'm sure results do affect them.
"We have to make sure they stay professional and don't lose their discipline on the pitch and that's a big part of what we can do as coaches, encourage them to play their football.
"It's still a settling in process for the side and we'll soon get a picture of the best side and then say to boys 'you'll have to fight you way in'. They've all had a little go at trying to prove that they belong in that first 11 and things will start to fit into shape soon."
