The Irish star volleyed home a magnificent winner with only eight minutes left of Saturday's FA Cup third round tie and in doing so, bagged the 100th club goal of his career.
It was the moment of magic required to secure a 2-1 win after the Championship outfit pushed us all the way at the Lane.
"After 30 minutes I knew it would take someone with special quality to make the difference, and we have them in Defoe and Keane," Jol added.
"Luckily enough, Robbie did it this time. It was an amazing goal although we had to wait a bit too long for it!
"To be honest, I thought we missed Fredi Kanoute, he's a target man but then again, when Robbie's not playing or Jermain isn't playing, we miss them. We have three terrific strikers."
Martin Jol admitted he realised early that it might need something special to topple Brighton - thankfully, up stepped Robbie Keane.
