Both sides have have enjoyed a 100 per cent record since the turn of the year and something will have to give on the day. Liverpool have overcome Yeovil in the FA Cup and secured six points from Premiership games against Chelsea and Aston Villa, while the boys have accounted for Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Leeds.
David describes the encounter as a real challenge and knows that Liverpool are a club with great players and equally great expectations to live up to.
"They've had better results recently and it will be a full house at White Hart Lane," said the acting boss. "Liverpool are in the top five and are a club of history, tradition and big expectations.
"They have England players in Owen and Gerrard, the valuable German, Hamann, in midfield and Hyypia at the back - who is as good as any central defender in the country. Wherever you look they have quality players and it is a great challenge for us on Saturday, a real challenge.
"Gerard Houllier is a good tactician away from home. Liverpool are very solid - I'm not suggesting negative - and they know how to pick up points on their travels."
David Pleat suspects a resurgent Liverpool will provide a stern test to our own New Year resolve when they visit the Lane on Saturday.
