Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand wore a look of disbelief after our defeat at The Valley.

The big striker, pictured battling against Richard Rufus, suffered more than most at the hands of the brilliant Dean Kiely in the Charlton goal on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper produced the best two saves of a stunning afternoon's work to deny Ferdinand.

After 57 minutes he somehow got down to beat away a fiercely-struck volley from 12 yards and just five minutes later saved a point-blank header.

Kiely also denied Sergei Rebrov and Steffen Iversen and Mauricio Taricco hit the woodwork as the home side clung onto the first-half lead handed to them by Jonatan Johansson for the three points.

Ferdinand reflected: "Kiely’s pulled off two great saves against me, another from Sergei Rebrov and an even better one from Steffen Iversen in the first half.

"The saves he made from me you can only put down to pure reactions. With the volley, the ball came out and I instinctively hit it but he got down to it and what made it even better was that he pushed it away from danger. It was the same with the header — pure reflexes.

"Even when we did get past him we hit the crossbar. It was one of those days unfortunately."

Ferdinand knows we can't afford many more of these away days this season. "To be up there or there abouts you need to come to places like Charlton, no disrespect intended, and take three points," he added.

"We’re disappointed we didn’t get something out of the game. We were a bit sloppy ourselves. We looked nice keeping the ball but we didn’t really hurt them in the first half.

"For the first 20 minutes of the second half we really threatened and got them on the back foot but came up against a goalkeeper who was on fire."
