Martin Jol has spoken of his sympathy for Noe Pamarot as the likeable defender faces a long spell on the sidelines.
The French full-back tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee after falling awkwardly at Birmingham City on Saturday.
He now faces reconstructive surgery and an estimated six months at least in rehabilitation.
Head Coach Martin said: "Noe's as tough as a brick wall and it's such a blow he's going to be out.
"He filled in so well as centre-back at Forest and he's never moaned.
"I think he realises that Tottenham and England is a good place for him to be and that's why it's so harsh for him. Everyone at the club hopes he gets back as quickly as possible."
