We certainly looked the more likely to break the deadlock with Dean Marney, Mark Yeates and Stephane Dalmat all going close but it ended 0-0 at the City Ground.
"It was a game where I felt we just needed to pick it up a little," reflected coach Clive. "I'm disappointed we drew the game because I felt we had enough in the team to have gone on and won it.
"I don't think we were troubled and defensively we were solid with Stephen Kelly and OJ Mabizela, once they got tighter, doing well.
"Rob Burch didn't have a save to make in the game so from that point of view it was good.
"We saw touches from Stephane Dalmt and I thought the boys worked hard but we just needed that quality in the final third to get ourselves in front.
"If we'd have done that, I'm confident we would have gone on to win the game but all credit to Forest, they made it difficult and that's generally the case in these reserve games."
Clive Allen was disappointed to come away from Forest with only a draw in the FA Premier Reserve League last night.
