Matt hinted at the beginning of the campaign that he might consider a loan move if he was not 'there or thereabouts' by October time.
But our tricky leftie has certainly figured in the first team picture in recent games, featuring as a useful option for Glenn on the substitutes' bench and likely to play in tonight's friendly at his former club Peterborough.
"I've been on the bench for the last six times so that's been good," said Matt, who admits to a small concern over his general fitness due to operating on the first team training pattern where games have dominated.
"I'm in that inbetween stage at the moment where I'm not training so often because I'm with the first team. I feel as though I'm losing a little bit of fitness and it showed a bit against Southampton reserves in the last 20.
"I felt a bit leg-weary so I was a bit worried about that, but I wouldn't change being around the first team for the world, I'm on the bench and I'm happy do that. Hopefully I'll get a few more appearances down the line and progress from there."
Matthew Etherington is happy with the way his season is ticking along at the moment, his progress being rewarded with first team recognition.
