Clive Allen has a simple summing up of Simon Davies' progress since returning to action: "So far, so good."
The Welsh midfielder is pushing for a return to the first team squad after completing his first 90-minute stint since recovering from a virus.
Playing just off striker Lee Barnard, Simon scored in the reserves' 2-0 win against Norwich City at Carrow Road and has looked back to his old self both in two reserve appearances and training.
Clive said: "He scored a good goal, was a threat all evening at Norwich and played in a position where we tried to get a him a lot of the ball.
"He got involved, worked hard and is making good progress.
"He's a clever player and the way we set up he exploited that role. We made good opportunities to score from his link play, he had shots on goal and scored, so it was a pretty good night for him."
