Harry Redknapp has been impressed with our pre-season training camp in America.
We followed up Saturday's goalless draw at San Jose Earthquakes with a 2-1 win against the New York Red Bulls as we opened the Barclays New York Challenge on Thursday.
Both MLS teams have pushed us all the way with Thierry Henry giving the Red Bulls a new dimension.
"Both teams were fit and bright," said Harry. "They have got some good players over here. We went to San Jose and they had some quality as well, there are no easy games.
"The Red Bulls had some good opportunities, they just couldn't convert them but overall I was impressed with them.
"There is a lot of talent in this country, I have always said that, great athletes with experience and better players coming here again now can only help the young players. There there is certainly an awful lot of talent here.
"The atmosphere at both games has been great and the crowd have made plenty of noise.
"I think you come to any sporting event in the States and people come to enjoy themselves, no trouble, no aggravation, everybody is out for a good time. New York is marvellous, a great place.
"We're just looking to get really fit now for the start of the season.
"The important thing for us is to prepare our game and to be right for August."
The team closes the tour of America with the second match in the Barclays New York Challenge against Sporting Lisbon on Sunday. Kick-off is 1pm local time, 6pm UK.
It's a winner takes all match in terms of the tournament after Sporting Lisbon beat Manchester City on Fridfay night.
