Adam Smith made his full debut as England Under-21s beat Norway 2-1 in European Championship qualifying on Monday night.
The young full-back was drafted into the side for only his second cap at U21 level by boss Stuart Pearce for a testing encounter on an artificial playing surface at the Marienlyst Stadium, Drammen.
Adam, who earned his first cap as a substitute in last month's friendly against Israel, played the full 90 minutes as the Young Lions made it three wins in three in Group Eight.
Early goals from Craig Dawson and Jordan Henderson inside the first 10 minutes put England in the driving seat.
Norway pulled a goal back through Valon Berisha midway through the first half but England defended well in the second half and the home team were restricted to one clear-cut chance as Marcus Pedersen scuffed his effort in front of goal.
Currently on loan at MK Dons, Adam has been capped by England at Under-16, 17, 19, 20 and Under-21 levels.
