The Welsh starlet is available for Sunday's clash against West Brom after serving his one-match ban against Birmingham City at the weekend.
There are only three spots available in midfield at the moment with Glenn Hoddle reverting to our favoured wing-back system.
Simon is now up against the likes of Darren Anderton, Steffen Freund, Gus Poyet, Jamie Redknapp, Milenko Acimovic and Steve Clemence for those three spots.
But he's hungry after playing only a minor role in our last three games.
Having been sent off after 26 minutes at Highbury, he was rested after a long trip to Azerbaijan with Wales for the game against Leeds and then sat it out at the weekend.
"It will be battle to get back in," said Simon at Spurs Lodge. "We had a great win against Leeds and got a point at Birmingham, so all I can do is show the manager in training that I'm still around.
"The hard work starts now to get back in. It's almost like starting again.
"We've got some games we're well capable of winning coming up so we're all pulling together. For me personally, I've got to try and get back into the side as soon as possible."
Simon Davies realises he faces a huge challenge in winning his place back in our starting line-up.
