The midfielder is out at the moment with a shin problem just a month after returning from four months out with a hip complaint.
He admits it's been his most frustrating time in football but club captain Jamie has helped him through it.
Simon said: "You look up to players like Jamie because of the injuries he's had and the way he's handled it.
"When I had my hip problem and he was coming back from his knee we were training in the gym together every day and he would say 'you'll be back' and you look at him and his injury problems, the character he's shown to come back and it drives you on. "He just wants to play as much as he can and he's now back in the team. He's our captain and an inspirational player and person. That's why he's our captain. He has been down as well but he always comes through it.
"You have to stay positive - I will be back playing soon and you have to look at it like that."
Look out for Simon's regular column, Digger's Diary, coming this Friday...
