Shaping up for Villa thriller

Posted on 29 April 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Robbie Keane believes the season is shaping up nicely as we remain in contention for 7th place going into our last three games, with the next being Aston Villa at the Lane on Sunday, kick-off 1pm.

The Republic of Ireland international has been around at the back end of three seasons at the club now and, for the first time in this period, there is a real positive goal to target as the campaign draws to a close.

"It is shaping up for an exciting finish, the next three games are crucial and it is vitally important we get three points on Sunday," insisted the striker. "It is going to be a tough game and we are quietly confident we can do well.

"It is a massive game for us and playing at home with the fans behind us gives us a good chance. Aston Villa are a good side though, take nothing away from them, and they are only a point behind us. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to it.

"Villa did ever so well last year but now, with three games to go, they are pushing for Europe as well.

"Obviously this season has been more promising because of the position we're in and we have been around it for a while.

"We have a good young squad who are a great set of lads. We all get on really well together and that always helps you.

"It is also a big squad with competition and if you want to do well in this league you need that."

Robbie has been something of a lucky talisman for us in home games over the last few months - scoring eight goals in the last 12 outings at the Lane. It is a theme he is seeking to extend.

"I didn't realise that but hope it continues on Sunday. I've got 17 goals and it is my best season, every year you try and do better than you did before and that is the case for me."
