Setting standards

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Colin Calderwood says his reserve squad have already set high standards - and insists they now have to maintain them when they kick off their league programme at Coventry City tonight.

Les Ferdinand and Chris Perry are the only experienced additions to the young squad Colin intends to stick with this campaign for the FA Premier Reserve League South opener at Highfield Road (7pm).

Fresh from performing admirably in the Jersey Tournament, Colin senses his charges can't wait to get things underway.

"They are all eager to play," said Colin. "They've set themslves a new level of attiutde, work ethic and being unselfish for one another. Now we've set that, we have to maintain it.

"The lads got the stage last season when they had enough experience at reserve team level to be a match for anyone. It won't matter to me what teams other clubs put out, I'll expect a performance now."

Coventry have always impressed at reserve level although they finished in the bottom half of the table last season.

"They are normally very good," added Colin. "We're looking forward to it. If we play in the manner we played the last two games we'll be okay."

Squad: Hirschfeld, S Kelly, Henry, O'Donoghue, Marney, Bowditch, Ricketts, Bortolozzo, Galbraith, Snee, Barnard, Perry, Ferdinand, Hughes, Sutton.
