Hans Segers is delighted by the prospect of Robert Burch and Lars Hirschfeld battling it out for the No.2 goalkeeping spot in the first team squad.
With Neil Sullivan departing for Chelsea, the opportunity of gaining valuable experience is up for grabs for the two young keepers.
There is no obstacles in the way of Robert seizing that chance, with Lars and Shwan Jalal absent with injury - and he certainly did that with some superb displays in pre-season.
"For me it is great," explained the goalkeeping coach. "Robert has come from almost nowhere to playing nearly all the pre-season games, with Kasey on duty for America.
"Burchy played virtually every week, went to South Africa and played over there and it was a great experience for him.
"This will be an even greater experience - to be on the bench - because you never know, Kasey could get sent off or injured in the first minute! It is an extra pressure put on him, but it is a learning process."
That process will intensify once Lars returns to the fold and challenges the England under-20 international.
"Lars has been struggling over the summer - hopefully I'll have him back on the training ground within a couple of weeks," added Hans.
"That will be good contest. Lars has done really well since he came here, but he has to prove himself again because it will be a battle between him and Rob now."
