Sebastien Bassong summed up the squad's mood after the loss at Arsenal by declaring: "It was the worst day of the season."
Two goals in a matter of seconds just before half-time put the Gunners in the driving seat and on their way to a 3-0 victory at the Emirates.
You'd think things couldn't get any worse but it did on a personal level for Sebastien, who pulled up clutching his right hamstring in the final seconds of the encounter.
The injury will be scanned later in the week.
"For 42 minutes we played well but in one minute we messed up the whole game," lamented the central defender.
"We slept for both the goals. The first goal was bad enough, the second goal was a disgrace.
"The manager wasn't happy about it and he was right, we defended it badly.
"We're all so disappointed."
The weekend's results saw Manchester City held at Birmingham and Liverpool lose at Fulham, so we now sit fifth in the Barclays Premier League with Sunderland next at the Lane this Saturday, November 7.
"We need to improve our game and now try to play well against Sunderland," added Sebastien. "It's important we put this right."
